Artist Statement
Abe Singer, Abe’s Iron Art LLC
The rush of feeling sparks in my hair, molten metal in my socks, and caustic chemicals burning into my hands. It makes me feel alive when I work with steel. I love to feel, and express feeling through my work. The process is exciting and dangerous, but out of that fire can come something elegant and graceful. My sculptures amplify the beauty of metal's natural strength and fluidity with the expression of flowing motion and balance. I strive to observe the exceptional details of daily life and expand them into the dimensions of monumental permanence. I want to make the idea feel alive, to defy the rigidity of my medium by capturing life in it. If a sculpture can make a viewer think and feel something, to reflect on their life and their place in the world, it gives me hope as an artist that my work may have significance. If a sculpture can bring beauty and light into a life, even for a moment, then life is changed in small way and a small impact has the potential to change the world.
